Wharton Ventures Pitch Day - April 24th 2009

Are you starting your own business upon graduation this May, or working with an early-stage startup?  Wharton Ventures would like to invite you to participate in the Inaugural Wharton Ventures Pitch Day.  While our doors are open to you any time, this day is reserved for those students launching ventures full time, and are entering a critical stage of their company’s development with graduation looming.

Requirements

Executive Summary: Please submit a 1 – 2 pg executive summary of your business to Gabe Reinstein (grein @ wharton.upenn.edu) no later than 11 AM on Wednesday, April 15th.  The executive summary should include a brief description of all pertinent aspects of the business, the team, and the capital needs.  We will send invitations to the event to businesses that best fit our investment criteria (limited by time slots) by Monday April 20th.

Presentation: Please be prepared to provide an investment pitch during a 30-min session with the Wharton Ventures team. Plan to allow for 5-10 mins of Q&A following the presentation.  Most companies find a PowerPoint useful and we will have a projector on site.

Investment Criteria: We will consider companies meeting the following criteria:

  1. Information Technology or Healthcare industries
  2. Full-time team in place (starting in the summer at the latest)
  3. Initial capital needs between $100,000 and $3,000,000

Peer @ Wharton

As a member of the Peer network, Wharton Ventures is a collaborative effort between Peer and MBA students at The Wharton School to make an impact within the venture capital and entrepreneurial communities.  Wharton Ventures looks for promising entrepreneurs and ideas. In partnership with Peer, we actively invest in seed and early-stage companies focused on the technology and healthcare industries across the United States.

Our team is comprised of 16 MBA students responsible for sourcing deals, performing due diligence, and making investment recommendations. In addition, we work with prominent, third party venture capital firms to undertake projects focused on investment research.
